Since leaving home last Thursday week we have ambled up the east coast. Our first stop was at Grafton. Usually a town we bypass, we figured we should check out the delights of the town. The bridge is probably the most memorable feature of the town, built ages ago it is very narrow, 2 semi's passing can be a 'hold your breath' moment, with only millimeters to spare on each side. There are lots of old buildings in Grafton and of course there is the mighty river.
We wandered up the road to MacLean for lunch which is a little bit of Scotland in the middle of NSW. Even the power poles are tartan!!!
From Grafton we headed up to Gympie for one night then Hervey Bay, for another one nighter, mainly so we could do lunch with Peter and Diana.
Then it was on to Yeppoon where we have been since last Monday. Tuesday was Fabrizio's birthday and on Wednesday we celebrated Tommaso's 6th birthday.
Today 10 of his school friends arrive for a birthday bash this afternoon. This should be fun!!!!
Tomorrow our trip begins in earnest as we take a left turn and head west. We will be staying at Lake Maraboon, out of Emerald. We will be there for 3 nights for a little fossicking in the nearby gemfields and a little bit of bird photography at the lake.
From now on the posts should be arriving every couple of days. Till then...
Looks like fun. Have a memorable, fun time. :)
